The Vertical Scramble app. Left Hand. Purple.

The Vertical Scramble app plays the same game without a deck. It draws the cards for you, can read them out loud, and can draw on a timer so the reader gets to climb too.

The reader climbs too

Turn on auto-draw and the app draws new cards every 2 to 10 seconds. A countdown bar shows when the next call is coming, and you can pause it any time.

The app’s settings, with Auto-draw and Read cards aloud switched on

Every card, called out loud

With read aloud on, the app speaks each draw, like “Heel hook. Blue.”, so climbers can keep their eyes on the wall. It keeps calling even if the screen locks.

Four starting color cards on screen: orange, wild, green and yellow

Starts just like the deck

The app turns over your 4 starting colors, and Shuffle redraws them. Then it’s one tap per turn, Previous shows the last call again, and your score counts up as you go.

Making a custom color card called Teal, with a color slider and a card count

Set it up for your wall

Take out colors your wall doesn’t have, change how many of each card are in the deck, or make your own cards with any name and color.

Rather hold real cards?

The printed deck is the same game with the same 2.0 card art, no phone needed. The deck and all of its card art were made without generative AI.
